Housed in a historic Victorian vicarage overlooking Cathedral Square, this remarkable building was once both a family home and a centre of parish life where tea was taken in the drawing room, sermons were drafted late into the night, and candlelit footsteps echoed along its corridors. Working closely with the Heritage Department, we’re carefully restoring its original features, revealing rich wood panelling and even a long-forgotten underground tunnel whose destination remains a mystery.

We know that bookings are important for certain occasions and take bookings of up to 8 people for those looking to eat at a specific time.

Sundays

Our fire pits have a makeover on Sundays to allow us to hang our meat over the open coals and cook to perfection. Therefore we serve Sunday Roast Menu only all day on Sundays and popular times can get booked up quite far in advance. So if you’re in the neighbourhood and fancy popping in, we’ll do our very best to accommodate walk-ins where we can but booking is recommended.

Walk-Ins

Walk-ins are always warmly welcome. Do pop in and we’ll get you your table as soon as we can. If there is a wait for a table, we’ll do our very best to make it as short as possible and you can grab a sharpener at our bar while we get to work on it for you.

A brand new Chop House & Steak Restaurant in Birmingham

Blacklock is all about doing the simple things well. Generous chops and steaks (and plenty more in between) served with sides made for sharing. As a (newly opened) Birmingham chop house and steak restaurant, our aim has always been to serve the very best meat our fair land has to offer, whilst staying kind to your wallet. We work closely with our friends and trusted farmers, the Warrens, to source the very best of British beef, which is carefully dry-aged to deepen flavour. By using the whole animal to make something of everything, we champion great chops and steak, at incredible value.

Blacklock Birmingham Sunday Roast

Almost as Good as Moms (and only available on Sundays!)

On Sundays, the kitchen switches gears for the day, the grills are packed away, and in their place, whole joints of meat are hung and gently roasted over open coals, just as they once were.

From lunch through to the evening, it’s all about generous plates of perfectly slow-roasted beef, pork, lamb and vegetables with the crispiest, fluffiest roast potatoes, Yorkshire puddings, and plenty of (unlimited) gravy. A relaxed, all-day affair built around tradition, quality, and a proper get-together.

Vegetarian? No problem. We love the best of British veg too. Delve into a meat-free roast featuring our barbecued cauliflower chop, served with all the classic British sides. We also serve a selection of gluten-free dishes (including a delicious gluten-free gravy!), so nobody misses out on a warm, cosy roast.

Why we LOVE Mondays

It’s often an unpopular opinion, but we LOVE Mondays and here at Blacklock Birmingham, we have the perfect reason to. Every Monday, our famous Big Chops — think Porterhouse, Prime Rib, Bone-in Sirloin, and Lamb Rump — are served at the same price you’d pay at your local butcher: just £8 per 100g. Think generous, door-stop-thick cuts designed for sharing or indulging solo.

Butcher Price Monday is all about incredible chops and steak at great value. All cuts are cooked to order and written up on the board, then crossed off as they go - once they’re gone, they’re gone. There are no hidden catches, just cut-price chops at a fraction of the usual price.

Available all day for lunch and dinner, Butcher Price Monday has quickly become a much-loved ritual at Blacklock Birmingham.
