Join us on our B Corp journey so far.

This week marks a somewhat important milestone in our world. We’ve submitted our application and are now one step closer to becoming a B Corp certified company!

It was a pretty typical Monday over at Chop House. Coffee and bagels from B Bar in Soho fueled morning meetings and reviews of the upcoming week in the restaurants with a new Summer Fruit Crumble set to hit the menu. All in all, you could say it was a fairly normal start to the week.

Only, it wasn’t. 

A heightened, almost nerve-tingling, buzz of excitement filled the air as this specific day marked a massive milestone for our team. After months of meetings, research, learnings and sleeves-up-hard-graft, Monday was THE day that we hit send on our B Corp application.

So what is BCorp?

B Corp is a certification that recognises companies that value purpose over profit and put their employees, the local community, and the environment at the heart of their decision making.

It aligns with all of the things we hold dear and how we turn up to work everyday, which is exactly why, when we learnt more about it, we decided it was something we wanted to get on board with.

What’s Next?

With over 250 questions answered and our application now pending, we continue to improve our practices while we anxiously wait by the telephone for our results. This week marked a milestone for our team, who worked so hard making Blacklock what it is today, which is why we wanted to take a moment to reflect and share this news with you all.
